Mona Pants Foundation

Mona Pants Foundation is a powerful example of how compassion, entrepreneurship, and community impact can come together to strengthen Downtown Zebulon. Founded in 2014 by Debbi Heger, the Foundation grew from more than 15 years of hands-on involvement in dog rescue and a deep commitment to supporting animals and the people who care for them. What began as fundraising for rescue groups, sanctuaries, and shelters quickly expanded. By 2015, the Foundation was supplying K9 Officers with protective vests—saving lives on both ends of the leash—and each year has brought new ways to serve the pet community.

In 2023, Debbi opened Mona’s Mintage, a thoughtfully curated shop in Downtown Zebulon offering a mix of donated and new items. The model is simple and powerful: 100 percent of proceeds directly fund the Mona Pants Foundation's work. Through this storefront, shopping becomes an act of giving.

Today, Mona’s Mintage supports rescue groups nationwide, equips K9 Officers with protective gear, provides pet oxygen mask kits to first responders, donates more than 150 pounds of pet food weekly to the local food pantry, and supplies cat food for volunteers caring for feral colonies in Zebulon. The result is a business that fuels downtown vitality while delivering measurable, life-saving impact—proving that local commerce can be a force for good.
