About the Zebulon Downtown Development Association (ZDDA)

The Zebulon Downtown Development Association (ZDDA) was formed as a direct result of the Town of Zebulon’s long-term commitment to strengthening, preserving, and revitalizing its historic downtown district.

In 2019, the Zebulon Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution to pursue participation in the North Carolina Main Street Downtown Association Community program, signaling a strategic investment in downtown economic development. In 2021, Zebulon achieved designation as a Downtown Associate Community, formally aligning the town with the NC Main Street framework.

By July 2023, Zebulon successfully completed all required milestones and was recognized as an official NC Main Street town. Following this designation, the Board of Commissioners appointed ZDDA’s inaugural volunteer board to establish and guide the organization. The board has since led efforts to organize the nonprofit, including developing bylaws and policies, forming working committees, and collaborating with town staff to secure 501(c)(3) nonprofit status.

Today, ZDDA serves as a community-driven organization focused on supporting downtown revitalization, local businesses, and long-term economic vitality.
